Todd Tresidder – Financial Mentor

Episode Summary –

Todd Tresidder is a financial coach and educator at FinancialMentor.com. He's the author of five financial planning books including ‘How Much Money Do I Need To Retire?,‘ ‘Don't Hire A Financial Coach,' and ‘Variable Annuity Pros and Cons.' You can connect with Todd via his website, Financialmentor.com, Twitter @FinancialMentor, or on Google+.

Todd graduated from the University of California at Davis with a B.A. in economics and a passion for creating successful businesses. A serial entrepreneur since childhood, Todd went on to build his own wealth as a hedge fund investment manager before “retiring” at 35.

Todd teaches the principles of personal finance and investing based on real experience. He shows you what works, what doesn’t, and why – with a unique focus on combining personal development with a systematic, disciplined approach to achieving financial freedom.

Todd’s own path to financial freedom consisted of leading an ordinary but comfortable lifestyle that prioritized building wealth instead of overhead, and freedom over flash. The truth is financial freedom isn’t about more, better, different stuff. It’s about having the time, money, and freedom to enjoy your life experience without limitations.

For Todd, that means an outdoor adventure lifestyle, intellectual pursuits, and relationships. First on the list is family and friends closely followed by reading stimulating books, enjoying outdoor recreation like running, swimming, skiing, hiking, cycling, camping, backpacking, and travel. Personal growth is also a high priority.

None of what Todd truly values costs much money, but it does take time. This is one of the hidden gems to financial freedom: having the time to do what gives you more joy in life without the worry, stress, and anxiety caused by money.

Todd teaches the pursuit of financial freedom as a transformational path because that was his experience. Money is always nice, but ultimately it’s just a tool – the inner transformation is the bigger reward.

And that is why Todd founded Financial Mentor – to share this journey with others and to grow a community of like minded individuals who are passionate about building wealth and financial freedom because it improves the quality of life for you and your family.
